More Money!

After talking to a Minimed rep, I have discovered to get started on their pump I will need approximately $1650 which will also include 3 months supplies. I currently have a $750 deductible with Guess I will be waiting a while. Not sure what to think really now. I may get an estimate from Omnipod just to see. Either way I may be continuing to with multiple shots for some time until I can at least cover my deductible. Maybe in the mean time there will be a cure!

Still a bit unsure...

Today I visited my diabetes educator. On the drive there I was still deciding Omnipod vs. Paradigm. As I walked I was ready to say give me the pod. Then I remembered seeing in a forum somewhere that Minimed is developing a pod like system. So wouldn't you know the first words out of my educator's mouth were "Yesterday I just saw pictures of the protoype that Minimed is developing similar to the Omnipod" Oh Great! I was ready to go with Omnipod and pursue the Dextrom CGM. And after talking to an… Continue

Next Up The Paradigm from Minimed

For the past 36 hours I have been wearing the “tubed” variety of pumps. After wearing the Omnipod for a couple of days I wanted to see what it would be like to wear a more traditional pump. While I still love the idea of a “tubeless” pump such as the Omnipod, I must say wearing the Paradigm has not been too cumbersome. Here are the things that have bothered me while wearing the Paradigm (the same could apply to most pumps): 1. I put my keys in my right pocket, my money in the left, and my cell… Continue

Day 2 with the Omnipod....Almost

Today was an active day. A good day to test the durability of the pod and how well it would stick on my body. Today on the family schedule was two pool parties and surprise b-day party in between. After an hour and half at the first pool party I began to feel the tape weakening. Five minutes later I was taking off. Best case scenario I was hoping the pod would make it to the evening pool party. I am not surprised but a bit disappointed. I would be interested to see what others do in the case of… Continue

Trying the Omnipod

I now have piece of robotics sticking to my skin. After five years of multiple daily injections, I have finally gave into all the suggestions. "Have you thought about the pump?" If I had a nickel for every time I heard that question I could now pay for the deductible that I will be required to pay for the marvel of technology. After hearing about the CGMs I decided it was finally time to at least investigate. It was a bit overwhelming leaving the diabetes educator on the first day with a bag f… Continue
