More Stuff in My Life (Part 2)

Our vacation plans have changed, as plans sometimes do.. Instead of a week in June in Nice, France, it is now two weeks in July somewhere TBD around Antalya, Turkey. I got a Hep A vaccine Thursday in preparation for the trip. Hep A vaccine is recommended by the CDC for travel to Turkey. Me being a bit immune-deficient (from immunosuppresent drugs), I did as suggested. My contact at the kidney post-transplant center said that this common vaccine is no problem to me since it is not a live virus.… Continue

"Does it hurt?"

When I was brand new to type 1 diabetes so many years ago, the most horrible thing about it was that I had to take shots and that the shots "hurt". Later on when i thought about maybe using an insulin pump, the most horrible thing about it was that I would be attached to this thing all the time. Today, I was waiting for my lunch to heat in the microwave oven at work. Someone asked me if I took the finger stick blood tests. They asked me if they hurt. From where I am nowadays, a question like th… Continue

Fun with my leaky water heater

Yes, it's leaked over the place. The water is shut off, the windows are open, and the fans are starting to get the moisture out. The tank itself is within its ten year warranty. Tomorrow the plumbing company who installed it will get the call to come fix it. Condo unit downstairs is empty, owner moved to AZ, a Realtor is handling it. and I have no contact info for either of them. I will call the condo mgt company to see if they have a contact. I will talk to my home-owner's insurance agent tomor… Continue

More stuff In my life (continiued)

This is an exciting time for me. I have felt more alive than I have in a long time. (That's a good thing!). Checkups with the doctors have confirmed what I feel, which is nice. My job has been more challenging lately too. I have had the chance to brief our project for half an hour before a critical audience. That was quite a stretch for me, but I got through it OK. Stretching is ok, too. We are planning a week's vacation in June to Nice, France. This will something different for me and an adve… Continue

Glad to see the upcoming DiabetesTalkFest on Diabetes Burnout

This is something I need to get to. I've been doing many things to keep busy in the last two+ years since my kidney transplant. I like to keep doing things. The down side of keeping busy is that I get tired sometimes, Wednesday for me is work, cooking class, home in time for the chat with Dr Polosky. Cooking class is something real different and I expect very good for me. Eight two-hour classes in the month of March -------------------------------------------------------------------------------… Continue

I just had to comment on your pic! I used to love Laurel and Hardy... guess I'm telling my age, but it's posted anyway! You've got to have a great sense of humor. I'm sending you a friend request. Laughter IS the best medicine (OK, well insulin is pretty important, too!)

Thanks Steve! I've found that recently everytime I've Youtubed diabetes I get a lot of stuff about Nick Jonas...apparently all it takes for an illness to get a bit of publicity is for a singer to have it, lol. Thanks again for your comment. :)
