Well this week I had some breathing issues. Doctor wasn't sure if it was cardiac or med related. We finally decided it was medication related. I was on high dose beta blockers and it set off bronchial spasms and set off my asthma. So back in his offfice i go the next day. Ok so a week after my cardiologist took me off of one of the medications, my regular doctor put me back on it and upped it as I was still having heart issues. All was well for a few weeks, over the weekend my heart started racing again so on Mon after i started to get short of breathe, I called Dr. A and let them know. He took me from 100 mgs of Toprol XL a day to 200 mgs. Toprol is a 24 hour acting beta blocker so even 50 mgs is a hefty dose. All was well Mon and my heart rate dropped. He wante… Continue

Well tonight I remembered why I keep avoiding pizza. I haven' t figured out how to do a bolus for it yet, but I have for most other foods. I am in the 400 range and I have been trying to get it down for 2 hours. I swear to god pizza is now out of my diet for GOOD.

After my weekend of 2 highs my doctor wanted me to come into his office so we could discuss things. He decided that I needed to test all my basal rates before we make any major changes. He decided to go ahead and do my 3 month labs since they were due in 2 weeks anyway. A1C is 6.0, it is up from what it was 3 months ago at 5.4. Saw my cardiologist for my 6 moth check up yesterday. He has decided that my blood pressure and blood sugar have stabilized enough that my heart might be able to handle things on its own again. He started by taking me off of the Toprol XL. He said if I start to have the racing heart or skipping beats I am to put myself back on it, but if all goes well then in 6 months he will take me off of the Cardizem LA as well.
