About Luis

I was born in Caracas, Venezuela. Moved to the US after college. My career has centered around digital media product and business development.

I am married to Michelle, the most beautiful woman I know. We have two amazing kids: Luna and Luka.

I currently work in the best entertainment media college in the world: Full Sail University as Vice President of Full Sail Online.

When Manny told me about Tu Diabetes, I got really excited and asked him if I could be a volunteer. Thanks god, he accepted. I am not a diabetic myself, but as a parent and American, I am deeply worried about this condition that affect so many.

By the numbers

Viewing the interview in Channel 22 Los Angeles where Jose Ronstadt interviews Dr. Cesar Rey, I was amazed by some of the statistics.

According to Dr. Rey the statistics place Diabetes as the disease that is growing at the fastest rate in the US.

Every year 800,000 people is diagnosed in the US; 1 million in Canada; and 2 million in India. That's almost 4 million people in just those three countries. It's like a new country with only diabetics is born every year. Unbelievable.… Continue

My one-month anniversary at TuDiabetes

So today is my official one-month anniversary as a volunteer for Tu Diabetes.

It's been an amazing month and it's hard to believe that it has only been one month. A lot has happened.

First and most importantly I have met incredible people. Secondly, I have learned sooo much from all of you. Thirdly, amazingly enough, the excitement about building this community has taken stress away from my job and it has made me appreciate and enjoy my family a lot more. What else could I ask?… Continue

Diabetes getting closer

As you know, I'm one of those members of TuDiabetes that is actually not a diabetic. I became aware of diabetes through my friend Manny and since he started this community I have felt compelled to help any way I can. As consequence I have learned so much from you.

Last week, my mom told that my nana's cardiologist wanted her to sho… Continue

Can you describe in one word how you feel about being touched by diabetes?

Tu Diabetes
As I sit here at home and continue to read your amazing stories I asked myself, how could we bring more awareness? how can let the world know?

Inspired by a beautiful campaign by my friend Martin Giraldo called "be part of the garden," and our great logo. I thought of a simila… Continue

Thanks Luis! I was actually looking through your badges yesterday to find the one that will work best on our site.

Unfortunately, we have a very inflexible platform right now (which we are fixing), so right now it is not possible to put it on the main site.

However, I am planning to put a link to your site on our specials page which I have full control over.

Thanks again!
