Dear Friends
I want to create a group which shall share information on Diabetes through memoirs. Please join and send your own memoirs. Find below an interesting story, titled "An Adventerous Lover-" and "He amputated his leg himself..."
It was during my stay at Republic Square at Paris, while I was attending 18th Congress of International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in 2003 that I happened to go through an anecdote published in a…

I expect members of this group, who are suffering from Diabetes (whether Type 1 or Type 2) to write any incident/acident or peculiar experience they have faced as a patient of Diabetes. I, as a Diabetologist would like to point out medical messages from them

My name is Angie I am from the U.S. I was told I have type 2 diabetes in July of this year. I was going to another doctor last year and my blood readings were up to 300, so he put me on 2 oral pills, but never came out and told me I was a diabetic, he never took regular blood work on me, and this past May my ankles were swelled up and I went in and he told me that is how they are suppose to be because I am on the chubby side, but you could see the fluid in my ankles, and he just said not to eat, so my mom had me make an appointment with another doctor, who I am going to now, and he is the one who told me I was a type 2 diabetic. Now he is checking my blood every 3 months, but my fingers go numb, and it wakes me up in the mornings, and lately my sugar won't stay up when I eat. I hate to keep calling the doctors, but I just don't know what the problem is. About 2 months ago, , I was shopping and I got light headed and thought I was going to pass out, I got in the car and my sugar was down to 45. Do you have any advice for me? I would appreciate it, because I am new to this!
Thanks,
Angie

It was really nice to see a doctor n that too a diabetologist from India on this site.Actually I'm type1 diabetic, live in Karnal,India though these days I'm in California visiting my sister. It was just by chance that I hit upon this site n found it extremely informative coz'I got to read what people like me deal with every day n share my experiences with other diabetics.I wish we'd some similar blogs catering to the needs of diabetic Indians coz'this site features people mostly from America,Canada or Europe.I realized that most diabetics here use pumps but surprisingly in our country,I don't think there r any pump users...I know it costs a great deal n requires an accurate calculation of calories before dialing the dose..may be that's why it's not that popular in India..My endocrinologists-DR.Murlidharan from Chandigarh n Dr.Sanjay Kalra from Karnal never talked about using a pump...I still take shots n sometimes use pen also but I think using a pump makes one's lifestyle more comfortable...I'd like to keep in touch with u...
