Hi Renee, thanks for contacting me, I can help you with alot of your questions, I am living in Ireland at the moment, we did get the pump here and I have started a local support group for parents here as well. They do offer pumps to kids here, but its a rollercoaster to get one, not sure how to personal message you, do you know, we can talk more..... Nikki
I am responding to a comment left on my page back in October. I am so sorry I didn't respond before. Your comment never got emailed to me so I missed it somehow.
Riley has been pumping for just over 2 years now. We did shots 5 months before he started the pump. I wouldn't trade the pump for anything (except a cure). How is pumping going for you guys?
Hi Renee! There's not much to tell regarding the false alarm. I fainted and hit my head. I went to the hospital and they did $20,000 worth of testing and cam up with the official diagnosis "You Fainted". It was a stress wake-up call though. I normally take blood pressure medication (I am a little hypertensive) but with the work stress I was a tad more than a little hypertensive. When I finished my last day and started my vacation, my bp dropped to 70/40 and I fainted! I wrote about the fainting experience in a satire blog called "Dying" on my page. I ended up having to adjust my meds to make up the difference and I am okay. One good thing is that I have a cardiologist now and he and I meet once per year.
MY Mom turned 70 and no she didn't have any idea the whole family was coming. My sis set it up so that it seemed that they were going out to dinner as a small party. Then we were all there and scared her half to death! I put up a pic on my page, my Mum and her TWIN sister, and my sisters in law my 2 darling nieces (they are 15 and 13 respectively, the older one Cat is also a T1/pumper) and my little sweetie Lisa! We had a great time.
Isn't it funny that life teaches us about life? I have had so many conversations with people on these online forums about how nerve racking it is when they have to go to school or are away overnight for the first time. Don't forget what a good job you are doing and that you are with Monica in her heart always and you are teaching her how to take care of herself! I am glad that her teachers all know about diabetes and even pumping (wow it was different for me in 1977). My sis ended up volunteering to be a class mum for away trips and overnights so she could be a little closer to Catherine and that ended up working out great too.
as for the pic comment, it is nice to see what's behind the dark glasses and I didn't mean to make you blush - you take a fine picture!! Hello to hubby! hugs to Monica! and I'll talk to you soon!
