Pregnancy number 4

I am truly blessed. I have had diabetes for over 23 years and have been blessed with two beautiful and perfectly healthy boys (4 and 2) As some of you may know, I miscarried on my son's 4th birthday while in my 2nd trimester. This was a terrible and traumatic experience for me, but one that I can be grateful for now as it has made me re-realize just how fragle life can be. It also helps me relate to so many other women who have experienced similar loss, and offer compassion. I recently found out… Continue

I am no longer pregnant...update in the making

After reading my last post I have decided that it is time to update everyone. It has been a rough couple of weeks, and on my oldest son's 4th birthday I started having horrible pains during his birthday party, and subsequently was rushed to the ER only to find out that I was miscarrying at nearly 5 months. It was awful and scary and I have been having a really tough time processing all of it, but slowly am starting to come out of it and am trying to focus on my beautiful boys and count my blessi… Continue

I'm pregnant!

I haven't even told my husband yet, but I must share the news! This is a safe place to share my ups and downs of pregnancy! So I took a test last night at home, not really expecting much as I was only one day late, and there it was as clear as day "Pregnant" (the tests now spells it out for you in case the plus or minus or two lines are too confusing!) Then again this morning I took another test as I was not convinced...and again "pregnant". Hmm, could this really be? I called up my doctor's o… Continue

One more set change and the kids will be reunited with their "best in the world" daddy!

Ok, this is it: ONE MORE infusion set change and if all goes well we'll get to see my husband a few days earlier than expected....late this weekend...anyone have any good ideas on how to celebrate his return other than the obvious banner and sweet lovin', err, ahh I mean sweet cookin'?! Something fun we could do for him when we pick him up or have waiting for him at home? I'm frantically running around to get everything together that I am drawing a blank! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Countdown to Freedom!

So the hubby will be returning from the Middle East in about 5 infusion site changes! I am looking forward to the day that I can say "the next time I have to change my tubing my husband will be here to watch the kids and give me 5 minutes to myself"! woo-hoo! If it weren't for diabetes, the count-down might seem longer-(thanks MiniMed!) DOes it seem weird that I'm counting down the days by the number of times I have to change my insulin pump site? Nah, I didn't think so...now if I were to do it… Continue

Hey Sweetie---Just read your post at Melissa's. I'm sorry you've been a little down. Of course I'm glad you are pregnant again as long as that is what you want. I'm sure it's a little scary.

I'm getting ready to take the train to Minnesota again in August and have been reading Circling My Mother in anticipation of seeing mine and helping my sister who cares for her and will be a first-time grandmother in November (knock on wood).

Thinking of you with great fondness, as ever.....Judith

Hi fellow mil-towner! You've got a beautiful family! How were your pregnancies? Mine have been so-so so far! It sure is a lot of work! I feel like the diabetes police 24/7! Sorry to hear about the most recent preg. Looks like we would've been due about the same time. Thinking of you!

I went to New Orleans for Memorial Day Weekend. I was bad!!! I ate so much good food. Barbecue Shrimp at Deanies in Metarie. Plump, fresh oysters at Acme Oyster House. cafe Au Lait and Beignets at Cafe Du monde. My BG's went trhough the roof but I really, really enjoyed myself. Am I bad??? I've been living in H-town for a really long time.

Hey R,
Fabulous, thank you for being so patient! I was getting anxious because I wanted to get that back to you, she apologized for keeping them a little longer than expected!

As far as places to go, hmmm you going to the oceanfront? You should check out the Rockfish, or Catch 31 both nice restaurants on the water. If you're feeling like going indoors, Lynnhaven mall is nice. If you're wanting real nice indoor shopping head to Norfolk for Mac Aruther mall home of Bebe, Nordstrom and a few other goodie stores ie. Coach bags.

Hope your weekend was a fabulous one!

Hey Sweetie---in case you are in need of a distraction---I just posted a link to my daughter's online journal from the Nigeria trip. She's there right now with those laptops and solar cookers and it's kind of interesting reading. Thought it might be a nice break in your day to read around in it. I posted the link on my video page.....More soon......Fondly, Judith

Hey Rachel,
So glad to hear from you. I did indeed receive the bag. I meant to let you know sooner, but your Flora Flambe is going to be a star! Huh?

Well the folks over at Diabetic Living wanted to do a feature bit on SMD and requested several different designs and since we are between collection launches I volunteered yours. They will be returning them by the end of next week or so, and I'll get yours out to you ASAP! So the fall issue coming out in July will be it. *yay*

How's that pregnancy going? Boy oh boy you'll have to deal with all summer, I just did last year and I tell ya, being pregnant, diabetic and hot...is no picnic but, you can camp out in front of the good 'ole A/C or lounge down at the beach, or pool. You bikini ready chica?? :)
