Who Am I?
Well, I'm new to this whole online social networking thing, so it may take me awhile to get the hang of what I'm supposed to do here!
About me ... I was diagnosed with Type 1 back when I was in first grade. I suppose I went through the usual trends (from once-daily Regular + NPH injection with mealtime urine glucose tests to Humalog/Lantus with several BG tests, and for the last 2 years, a MiniMed pump with pin-cushion fingertips).
I've got a wonderful wife who helps me and supports me with everything diabetes-related. In fact, while we were dating, our parents met each other in the hospital after I had one of those overnight low blood sugar incidents (thankfully, that hasn't happened in at least 5 years). My son, born on Valentine's Day 2007, gives me the added motivation to keep myself healthy so I can be around for him as much as possible.
I love ice hockey, both watching and playing, but unfortunately I haven't played in a couple of years. I can't quite figure out how to fit my pump into the uniform; and besides, with my son and my daily commute into NYC, I just haven't got the time.

Yes, life of a parent of a child with diabetes is not easy, but I think it is much harder on the person with diabetes. At this point it just became a second nature, if you will...
Hope to find cure one day, and be done with it forever.
Then I can move on to my other child's medical challenge, lol! I have a son with deadly nut allergies, but that took a back burner to diabetes.
Thought I would read your page after reading your post about feeling like crapola. Your history is soooo similar to mine, just thought I would post that and hope that you are feeling a bit better.
